The loving, positive truths of Abraham-Hicks and Unity

There are so many loving, positive people offering workshops, retreats and information about creating the reality we desire. It's getting better and better! I wanted to share information about some that I've had personal experience with.

I have always found the writings, services, and prayers of Unity church to be positive and loving and they have always fit right in with my concepts of reality creation, especially Abraham-Hicks.

You have your hand on the switch. You are the allower or the resister. And your emotions tell you which you're doing right now. It's easy once you understand the formula: When you feel good, you're allowing good. When you don't feel good, you are not allowing good. We didn't say, when you feel good you are allowing good, and when you feel bad you are allowing bad (although it may translate into your experience in that way). There is only a Source of Well-being---which you are allowing or not. Abraham-Hicks, 7/20/02

So as you are focused on something right now, an idea or something that you are looking right at, and you feel wonderful as you give it your attention, that means that right here and now you, and all of you, in other words, you and the Source that is you, is having this moment in time. You are literally the eyes and ears and nose and are literally the taste buds for that which you call God. You are Source Energy in physical embodiment and when you feel good you are allowing all that you believe is God to flow through you in your powerful now. Abraham-Hicks, Ashland, OR, 7/19/03

...Well, in the sense that Nonphysical Energy flows forth to all of you, and you are all part of that source of Nonphysical Energy that is flowing, and in the sense that as you are here as physical catalysts to inspire one another to appreciate, which connects you with that same Energy of which you all are -- you are all related in the sense that you are all one. Different perspectives and projections of one.... Abraham-Hicks, Houston, TX, 01-23-94

You cannot be separated from that which you are calling God...People hear us say, "Reach for the thought that feels the best." And they think, "Oh no, I need to listen to what God wants." But aren't we talking about the same thing? Abraham-Hicks, 9-18-04

You are the creator of all that occurs in all of your life experience. You create your physical life experience through your thoughts. Literally, every thought that you think gives birth to a creation. Abraham-Hicks, 2/12/94

Wikipedia lists the five basic principles of Unity:

1. God is the source and creator of all. There is no other enduring power. God is good and present everywhere.
2. We are spiritual beings, created in God’s image. The spirit of God lives within each person; therefore, all people are inherently good.
3. We create our life experiences through our way of thinking.
4. There is power in affirmative prayer, which we believe increases our connection to God.
5. Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live them.

As thinking is believed to affect our reality, positive thinking is another important tenet in Unity. "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11:22-24) is interpreted to mean that what one believes is what one receives, and that if one holds a belief that is not what one wants, one is, in effect, praying for what one does not want.

I have called the Unity prayer line many times over the years. The person answering asked how they may pray with me and when I told them, it has been an amazing experience. The person I spoke to seemed to know the exact words I needed to hear right then. As I said, it is always positive and affirmative. They put my name in their prayer room and pray for 30 days and I've always appreciated knowing that Light-filled support was coming into my life. The Silent Unity prayer line is 1-800-669-7729 in the United States. International callers can check the Silent Unity website for the number to use.

When I lived in Virginia Beach in the 1980's I was a member of the Glad Helpers Prayer Group at the Association for Research and Enlightenment. We did energetic healing for people who were there, but also prayed for those who requested it. And I've done Reiki and energetic healing at other times in my life. It is one of those delightful experiences that feels as good to give as to receive so I'm very open to it and Unity prayer line is a treasured resource for me.

Myrtle and Charles Fillmore began Unity in the late 1880's. Myrtle studied spiritual healing in 1886 and healed herself of tuberculosis. Charles became interested and they went on to study new thought and create the Unity church. This commitment to healing continues today at Unity Village, Missouri, 1,400 plus-acres of sacred space for retreats, meditation, and prayer, where they are planning a holistic healing center.

Retreats are scheduled on spiritual transformation, unleashing your inner beauty, expanding your consciousness, intuition-developing your inner wisdom, creating the life of your dreams, celebrating your essential self (a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender retreat) and more.
